DescriptionTuldar bar-Khaine grows up in Ssintar, at the edge of the Methwood, in the Old Empire of Unther. His father is a ranger, devoted to the land. Tuldar knows his parents' warmth and love. That peace shatters one terrible, rainy night. Marauders attack, and his parents slain before his eyes. His own left eye is gouged out. Tuldar is twelve . . .
Everything changes. The tiefling boy becomes fiercely ambitious, wants power, and to protect what remains of his world. He screams for hours in the rain, demanding Hoar's justice on the cutthroats. When his voice gives out, he feels a cool assurance in his chest, and Tuldar casts a small blessing. As he grows, he learns the woods, the paths, the dangers. Tuldar seeks a connection to Hoar, hoping to find meaning in his parents' death. Yet, the lessons learned are twisted. He become pragmatic, even callous. Sentimentality feels weak to him. Life is harsh. Tuldar learns to make difficult choices, to kill beasts and men. He believes that morality can bend for greater justice.
Fifteen years later, Tuldar bar-Khaine rides a caravan to Waterdeep. Along the way, he helps those who cannot help themselves. But the tiefling's heart is hardened by loss. He struggles between his desire for justice and the harsh reality of a cruel world.

His copper hue, feline right eye pierces deep, betraying a mix of cunning intelligence and unyielding resolve. Meanwhile, his unighted left eye is covered by a crimson, buckskin eyepatch.
